Copy of letter (fragment) from Lord Jeffrey, Edinburgh, to Lady Gifford, ca. 1836 [manuscript], ca. 1839.

Copy in the hand of Charles Kean and signed "C. Kean." Extract concerns Jeffrey's admiration of Kean's talents. Kean includes a note along with the copied excerpt that reads: "Extract of a note written by the [Lord] Jeffrey at Edinburgh to Lady Gifford - there is unfortunately no date except 'Sunday 23rd' - but it must have been in 1836 or 7." Also accompanied by envelope labeled, in Kean's hand, "Extract of a note from Ld. Jeffrey to Lady Gifford at Edinburgh ... in letter from him to me on my departure for America in 1839." With envelope.
